The St Petersburg Association for International Cooperation (St Petersburg AIC) is a unique and influential non-governmental organization maintaining long-established relationships with more than 50 countries to develop international contacts in business, science and culture. The Association works actively to present in appealing image of St Petersburg and Russia abroad and, thus, to bring prospective investors to Russia.
The Association embraces 30 friendship societies with foreign countries as well as numerous corporate and individual members representing the whole spectrum of St Petersburg life in culture, business, education and other fields.
The Association is the center for activities of international organizations such as Rotary, Lions, Soroptimist and the English-Speaking Union.
Conferences, meetings, educational programmes, concerts and exhibitions help bringing people together. The Association stimulates foreign language studies, develops mutual understanding and creates new professional and business partnerships. Youth and charity programmes are also an important part ot the Association's activities.
The Association works in close contact with the Government of St Petersburg, especially with the Committee for External Relations and Tourism, the Committee on Culture, the Committee on Education, the Legislative Assembly and the Government of the Leningrad region. Collaboration with the Russian Center for Scientific and Cultural Cooperation at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (Roszarubezhcenter) gives a broader sphere of contacts including centers of Russian Culture abroad.
Close cooperation with universities and schools and support from Consulates of foreign countries and Foreign Cultural Centers has brought the status of St Petersburg Association for International Cooperation to a high level.
Another role of the St Petersburg Association for International Cooperation is to assist the city's international programmes. One of them is the "Days of Scotland in St Petersburg". the programme includes various events: concerts, exhibitions, contests and conferences dedicated to celebration the culture of Scotland. The main aim of these events is to strengthen the links between our countries and promote interest in Scotland, its history, culture and present day life.
We are always keen to establish new contacts and to promote long-term cooperation with both Russian and foreign organizations.
